NLRB asks court for injunction against Post-Gazette in labor dispute

The National Labor Relations Board is asking a federal judge to force Pittsburgh Post-Gazette management back to the bargaining table and to restore health care benefits and other terms of a labor agreement that expired in 2017.

The NLRB on Wednesday filed a request for a temporary injunction in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania to stop what the federal agency alleges is the newspaper’s continuing violations of labor law while the NLRB processes unfair labor practice complaints — a process that can sometimes take years.

Post-Gazette officials issued a statement Thursday, noting the injunction request’s findings appear to conflict with a decision from an NLRB administrative law judge in July.
