Brianna Hill joins Spotlight Delaware as reporter

The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) is excited to announce that Brianna Hill has joined the new collaborative nonprofit newsroom, Spotlight Delaware, as a reporter.

Hill joins Spotlight Delaware after graduating from Temple University with a bachelor’s in journalism. During her time at Temple, she served as the deputy copy editor for The Temple News.

Hill’s writing career began when she was a young girl, writing songs, and spoken word poems that sparked a passion for written creativity and the ability to tell stories through words. She has published stories for WHYY and Kensington Voice, in addition to producing and editing for multiple Temple University news outlets, including The Temp, Philadelphia Neighborhoods and The Uptick. Hill also worked at Hill & Associates, P.C. as an assistant paralegal, where she showcased her interests in law and writing.

“I am honored to join a newsroom that is dedicated to informing and educating the public, and one that is empowering locals to actively participate in creating positive change in their communities,” said Hill.

Spotlight Delaware focuses on covering public policy and how it affects the daily lives of Delawareans throughout the state, with a particular emphasis on communities that have not always had access to local news and information.

“Brianna has an excellent ability to tell people’s stories, and while working for The Temple News, she has even openly shared her own story,” said Jacob Owens, Spotlight Delaware’s editor in chief. “A goal of Spotlight Delaware is to cover how public policy and actions personally effect our local Delawareans. I am excited to see how Brianna will connect with local communities and tell these personal stories.”
