Tribune Media Sale to Nexstar Approved By FCC

After nearly a century of broadcasting, WGN will no longer be Chicago’s very own.

The Nexstar Media Group’s $4.1 billion purchase of Chicago-based Tribune Media was approved by the Federal Communications Commission Monday, creating the nation’s largest local TV station ownership group, and moving the corporate nexus to Texas. The deal is expected to close later this week.
