Times Union Editor Rex Smith is stepping down from his position effective Feb. 1, capping an 18-year tenure as the newsroom's chief, the paper's publisher and CEO George R. Hearst III announced Tuesday afternoon.
Casey Seiler, who most recently served as the Times Union's managing editor, was named Smith's successor.
