Minnesota Weekly Newspaper Sold

Jake Benson, longtime owner-publisher-editor of the weekly Proctor
Journal newspaper, has purchased the Hermantown Star newspaper.
Benson announced the move Thursday in the Star, saying the deal was official in January. He purchased the paper from co-owners Wade Petrich and Jim Holmgren, who have owned the paper since 2004.
Petrich, who also has served as the Star’s editor since 2000, plans to stay on for a while to help in the transition before pursuing other career goals. Benson said he will keep both newspaper offices open.
