Digital First Media, which operates MediaNews Group, Journal Register Co. and Digital First Ventures, has named Jeannie Parent senior vice president of sales. Working with Digital First Media’s publishers and regional vice presidents for sales, she will oversee local advertising and sales initiatives on all platforms.

“Jeannie’s experience across all advertising disciplines and her fluency in both print and digital will bring greater depth to Digital First Media. The depth she brings to our sales management team will allow us to accelerate top line revenue growth in 2013 as we work to execute our business plan and closely measure growth in key revenue categories,” said Kirk MacDonald, executive vice president of sales for Digital First Media.

Parent will report to MacDonald, who will continue to lead all Digital First Media sales operations, including the company’s national sales division and the growing AdTaxi platform.

“Digital First Media’s unique market position – that of a national sales organization with strong, local market connections and a highly engaged audience – makes this exciting,” said Parent. “The company’s ongoing development of new products delivers greater opportunity for growth and I look forward to working closely with local sales teams to ensure we seize those opportunities.”

Parent, who most recently served as vice president of national sales for Gannett Corp., brings more than 25 years of international experience in multi-media advertising sales as she has held both local and national positions in the U.S. and Canada. She began her career in Windsor, Ontario as national advertising manager for CanWest Media. She has also held several positions including senior sales director of major retail advertising for the Detroit Media Partnership and advertising director for the Observer and Eccentric Newspaper group in the Detroit market. During her time with Gannett, Parent was integral in the implementation of that company’s Sunday Select program.
