Naples, Fla. – Donna Barrett, president and CEO of Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., Montgomery, Ala., has been chairman of the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association Foundation Board of Trustees.

The SNPA board of directors elected five trustees for the SNPA Foundation at its meeting in Naples. The trustees, in turn, elected their officers.

In addition to Barrett, two additional foundation officers were elected:


Vice Chairman: Lissa Walls Vahldiek, chief operating officer and vice president of Southern Newspapers, Inc., Houston, Texas.

Treasurer: Gregg K. Jones, president and CEO of Jones Media in Greeneville, Tenn., and co-publisher of The Greeneville Sun.

Elected to the board were:

Donna Barrett.

Steve Brandt, president and publisher of The Greenville News, Greenville, S.C.

Todd Carpenter, president and chief operating officer of Boone Newspapers, Natchez, Miss.

David Paxton, president and CEO of Paxton Media Group, Paducah, Ky.

Hal H. Tanner III, publisher of The Goldsboro News-Argus, Goldsboro, N.C.

The other members of the SNPA Foundation Board of Trustees are:

Stephen P. Hills, president and general manager, The Washington Post, Washington, D.C.

Walter E. Hussman Jr., publisher of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Little Rock.

The SNPA president also serves as an ex-officio member of the Foundation Board of Trustees.
