It didn’t matter whether Robert W. “Bob” Murphy was working or playing sports, he gave it his all, his family said.
That’s why he worked until about 10 years ago, then took night classes at the University of Dayton and why he was known as a tennis player who chased down every ball on the court.
“He excelled at so many things,” remembered Mary Beth Murphy, one of his six children.
On Saturday, Murphy, who served as publisher of the Middletown Journal and Hamilton JournalNews, died after a brief illness. He was 83.
