Whether it’s network news sites like the Advance Publications-owned and operated NJ.com, which includes original active content from 12 area newspapers including The Star-Ledger and The Times of Trenton, or the profusion of hyperlocals, some of which have partnered up (and were instrumental in aiding residents with breaking updates and information related to Hurricane Sandy), consolidation drives the Garden State’s local news apparatus.
